Faith Comes by Hearing

Throughout my life, whenever I’ve heard a speaker preach on the scripture, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17 KJV) I always thought it meant that we can only have our faith increased when we hear the written word of God. However, this is not exclusively true!

Now, don’t get me wrong. I would be the first to tell you that you should read the Bible every day. God tells us to – His written word is an incredible gift that everyone should take advantage of. But simply reading God’s word doesn’t necessarily increase your faith.

It’s only when God is speaking on a Spirit-to-spirit basis with you that it makes a difference. It happens when something clicks in our hearts – we instantly know within ourselves that God has spoken and we believe it. It’s the difference between half-heartedly singing “Jesus Loves Me,” and leaping out of your skin with excitement because you truly know and believe it in your heart.

When you hear the voice of God, it makes all the difference in the world.

Have you heard from Him today?

Please check for updates on my blog to learn more about listening to and fellowshipping with the voice of God. I’ll share more elements from my book, Fellowshipping with His Voice, on a weekly basis. I pray that it’s a blessing and encouragement to you!
